overview

A full-stack platform for food discovery built on location services. Users explore nearby restaurants, read reviews from people who actually went, save favourites, and watch Drops, short food vlogs from other users. Built as a final-year degree project with Darshan Dinesh M.P and Delbin George.

the problem

Restaurant discovery is either an ad-ranked map or a group chat where nobody decides. Neither tells you what is genuinely nearby and worth the walk.

approach
  1. Ranked restaurant results by the user's live location rather than by paid placement.
  2. Added user reviews and detailed restaurant pages for the decision itself.
  3. Built Drops, short food vlogs, so discovery is visual, not just star ratings.
  4. Layered filters and favourites for repeat use.

  • ✓ Location-based restaurant discovery
  • ✓ Detailed restaurant information
  • ✓ User reviews for informed dining choices

outcome

It did its job as a final-year project, and then the idea outlasted it. Years later the same concept came back as a fresh build under Octane, live at eatables.app with real user reviews this time. This version is where it got proved out.
